Milwaukee Bucks player Patrick Beverley stirred controversy by listing Mo Bamba, CJ McCollum, Jarrett Allen, Myles Turner, and Grant Williams as the "whitest black guys" in the NBA on his podcast. Bamba and McCollum responded on social media. Bamba wrote, "Alright, I got time today @patbevpod," Bamba shared on X. "I'm a top 5 black-white guy because I can properly articulate how I feel & how I see things? You a smart man, do your research. I'm not a gangsta to any capacity but I'm born & raised from Harlem. I made it off the block & out the trenches [sic]." While McCollum suggested Beverley ask Damian Lillard, his new teammate, about him. Beverley clarified that the list was based on "swag" rather than basketball skills.
